Professional e-Competence - Ireland

                   Respondents by Educational Field

Irish IT professionals who responded were on average older than their counterparts in the rest of Europe. The proportion of IT professionals with an educational background where IT was only a side subject is 5% higher than the rest of Europe. Just over two fifths of Irish IT professionals have a non IT-focused educational background. This suggests there may be greater difficulty in Ireland than in the rest of Europe to source candidates with IT qualifications for advertised roles. Overall however a large number of IT professionals in Ireland hold third-level qualifications.

Regarding competence analysis, while 25% of respondents stated that they were IT Managers, only 7% appeared to have the e-competences required for this role.
