More Europeans Ditch Landlines for Mobiles and VoIP Alternatives

TelecomEuropeans are increasingly switching from traditional telephony services to mobile phones and VoIP alternatives, according to a new report on the EU telecommunications market recently published by the European Commission.

The report also highlights the quick growth of mobile data traffic which has become the most profitable segment of the telecom market.

Basic broadband coverage is now 100% in the EU and is ensured via different technologies (fixed, wireless, mobile and satellite). The penetration of high speed broadband penetration is still low but it is growing rapidly in many Member States.
