EC Regulation to Enable Cross-Border Electronic Signatures

The European Commission recently proposed new rules to enable cross-border and secure electronic transactions between businesses, citizens, and public authorities across Europe. The absence of common EU rules on legal recognition of electronic identification schemes (e-IDs) causes inconvenience and extra costs associated with time delays, especially for citizens who undertake business or work activity outside their home country. The proposed Regulation aims to guarantee the mutual recognition of e-ID schemes in the EU so as to ensure that people and businesses can use their own national e-ID to access public services in other EU countries. Learn More about Electronic Identification
