Four-Year Action Plan Launched on Active and Healthy Ageing

Following the adoption in 2011 of the European Innovation Partnership on Active and Healthy Ageing, the European Commission recently published a communication on the implementation of a four-year action plan. Specific actions have been put forward such as developing ICT solutions to help older people stay independent, more active and mobile for longer. The European Commission will also work on accelerating standards developments in ICT and forecasts that a first set of new standards for accessibility should be in place by 2013.
