EC: Six Research Projects Selected to Compete for €100 million Top Prize

During the Future and Emerging Technologies 2011 (FET’11) conference in Budapest recently, the European Commission announced the selection of six projects, related to research in the field of future and emerging technologies. The six contenders will each receive about €1.5 million initially for further enhancement of their proposals, after which two projects will be named the winners. The two winning projects will benefit from a ten-year funding scheme, each receiving a yearly budget of up to €100 million.

This initiative is aimed at fostering innovation in ICT and encouraging effective solutions to major social and industrial challenges in areas such as health sciences and neuro-robotics.
