EC Report: Europe’s Progress in Fight against Cyber Attacks

The European Commission recently published a progress report about the Critical Information Infrastructure Protection (CIIP) initiative, launched in 2009. The report shows how Member States have been largely successful so far in protecting critical information structures from cyber attacks and security breaches through exchanging good policy practices, and setting up national Computer Emergency Response Teams (CERTs).

Finding the best governance strategies for global emerging technologies such as cloud computing is just one of the many planned actions outlined in the report to reinforce international cooperation. The Digital Agenda for Europe supports this initiative and has highlighted the need for all stakeholders to join together and fight new and increasingly sophisticated cyber risks.
