Poland & Portugal have Highest Rates of Social Networking Usage

Recently the statistical office of the European Union, Eurostat, released the results of a survey on ICT usage in households and by individuals. Over four years from 2006 until the first quarter of 2010, internet usage in European households increased by over 20%, while those with broadband connections more than doubled. Relating to online communication means, the survey results show that during 2010, 80% of individuals aged 16 - 24 used the Internet to communicate via chat sites, social networks and blogs compared to 20% of those who are aged 55 - 74. However use of this form of communication was higher than average in Poland and Portugal in particular.
