Call for Proposals - ICT Research 7th Framework Programme

All framework programmes (FP’s) in the past have been implemented by the Commission and Parliament to cover only a five year period, however the latest Seventh Framework Programme (FP7) has been proposed to run for seven years from 2007-2013. The main aim of this FP7 is to create a knowledge economy and society in Europe.

FP7 is organised into four different programmes, covering the key elements of European research; Cooperation, Ideas, People and Capacities. Across these groups, ten high level themes have been proposed for European action, including ICT. Specifically under FP7ICT, eight core ‘challenges’ of strategic interest to European society are outlined in the ‘ICT Work Programme 2011-12’:

1. Pervasive and Trusted Network and Service Infrastructures

2. Cognitive Systems and Robotics

3. Alternative Paths to Components and Systems

4. Technologies for Digital Content and Languages

5. ICT for Health, Ageing Well, Inclusion and Governance

6. ICT for a low carbon economy

7. ICT for the Enterprise and Manufacturing

8. ICT for Learning and Access to Cultural Resources

There are currently ten calls open for participation in this area, with submission deadlines ranging from 2nd December 2010 until 12th March 2013.
