44th CEPIS Council


The 44th CEPIS Council took place on April 10th in Bucharest, Romania.  It brought together 37 participants from 24 countries across greater Europe. During Council, progress on the objectives outlined in the CEPIS Strategy Paper 2010-2013 were presented and discussed. This Strategy was previously reviewed and approved at the November 2009 Council and Presidents meeting and will continue to be a living strategy  which will be periodically reviewed and adjusted to ensure CEPIS maintains an effective and relevant strategic direction. It has received broad endorsement at the last two Council meetings and the President remains open to suggestions on the strategy.

The CEPIS Executive Committee members presented on key areas which included skills, professionalism, education, green ICT, women in ICT and research.  Council also approved the membership of the Montenegrin Information Technology Society (DICG), we look forward to welcoming them to the 45th Council, which will be held in Brussels. Member initiatives were presented including a proposal to have a pan-European citizen's initiative on Privacy Protection. Presentations about the activities of the Legal & Security Issues SIN, and the start up of the Software Quality SIN also formed part of the Council agenda.
