European Quality Assurance Network for Informatics Education (EQANIE)

Following the EURO-INF project that produced an accreditation framework for bachelor and postgraduate informatics degrees, CEPIS, upon the decision of EXECOM, has become a founding member of the European Quality Assurance Network for Informatics Education (EQANIE), along with the British Computer Society and Gesellschaft für Informatik. EQANIE, which will be based at the ASIIN office in Dusseldorf, is dedicated to the promotion and implementation of quality assessment practices for informatics education in Europe. According to the Articles of Association, EQANIE will:

  • develop quality assurance criteria and assume responsibility for the protection of a corresponding European quality label
  • establish and operate a European Label Award System for informatics education programmes
  • facilitate information exchange through regular communication of standards and assessment criteria, systems, procedures, manuals, publications, lists of accredited programmes and any other detail considered appropriate
  • engage with other European and non-European evaluation organisations
  • promote the establishment of national or regional accreditation bodies
  • organise meetings, seminars, workshops, and conferences related to its activities.

Vice President Hans Frederik has been appointed by EXECOM to represent CEPIS to EQANIE.
